It's finally vacation time! Over the course of planning, I believe I changed our destination 4 times. Up until a week ago we were going to Branson, but then I am like dang, that's an 8 hour drive one way. So, we ended up in Biloxi. And I got to see the beach. Riding together is not Scott and I's strong suit. He doesn't like riding with me, I am not a very good parking lot driver. Putting around here and there, I don't like it. Now get me on the interstate and I know how to drive. He does not. He almost killed us in Covington by changing lanes with a car CLEARLY right there! I screamed at him, and he, "well I thought I looked". But we made it. So, so many bridges. As soon as we crossed into Mississippi we stopped at a rest stop. Right next to a NASA center. I am sorry, I don't think "Mississippi" and "NASA" in the same sentence. I stand corrected. And then we arrived....and it was raining We got checked into the hotel.... And then went out to dinner. No surprise we found Greek food. We went back to the hotel to chill and watch educational programs. JK, we watched WWE. I didn't sleep well, but I was sleeping good at 3:00am when the fire alarm went off. I feel back asleep around daylight. There were super attractive firefighters right below my window for a good hot minute. Pun intended. I drug outta bed the next morning, ate breakfast, then off we went. I decided to stop by the beach first and stick my toes in the sand. Me, being a beach newbie, walked out there in my Tom's. There is still sand in my shoes, the car, and pretty much everywhere we went all day. After a day of shopping and literally driving around in circles, we be howngrie. Slap Ya' Mama BBQ was amazing. And I am not a BBQ person. I'd like to say we tore up the town and soaked in some sun, but you know we went back to the room and took a nap. For dinner we went to Snapper's. It had horrible reviews online, but it was amazing! The service was great, she sat down and talked with us, recommended what to eat. It was delish, we had a great view, and it was fast and prompt. Afterwards we stopped by Sharkheads and went back to the beach. I'd say we're taking a nice after dinner stroll, but it's more like I'm 15 feet ahead of him tromping in the sand complaining that it's cutting my feet and stating how hot my dress is. He said "this is very relaxing, I love it here!" Yin and Yang, it's how we roll. After a semi decent night's sleep, we woke up early and headed to Mobile. We arrived at the USS Alabama!!!! Now...I took over 300 pictures. I have the entire album here. <<<<<<< We then went inside the USS Drum. I have never been inside a submarine. I didn't know how claustrophobic that I would be, but it was alright! So much climbing and ducking. And the we were on the Battleship!! The pictures do not do it justice. It was SO huge! I want to share everything I took, but I won't. But seriously, check it out if you ever get the chance. It was absolutely amazeballs. Being a history nut, this was a dream come true. I can't begin to describe the smell of the ship. Old, oil, metal. I had to touch everything. Scott was so proud, he knew that I would have a good time. However, I think I was conned. I know why he wanted to go back into Alabama..... I know where my happiness stands. Right behind Krystal's Chili Cheese Fries. We made it back to Biloxi and took the best nap in the history of naps. We then ventured out and found dinner. I tried raw oysters. I have never felt such like a bouncing kid as when I saw this: ...and this! I have an uncanny love for lighthouses. I had to take just one more beach picture. The next morning we got up early and headed home. I felt like absolute poo. Like way worse than usual. We made it home, and was for certain my lungs were going to stop working. Most people would go to the doctor. Meh. I slept for 12 hours. Friday was the first day that I have slept past 7:30am. I didn't do much, just getting up to switch clothes from the washer to the dryer wore me out. I just laid around, watched movies and applied a lot of Vicks Vapor Rub. I did make a quick trip to see Lily. I gave her a foot long sucker. And then I left. Bwahahaha. Saturday I considered the possibility that I may not die. I am still not convinced, though. We all piled in the car and took Lily to the Riverbank to take pictures for Fall. It as a good idea in theory. This is pretty much how the day turned out. I managed to get a couple of good ones. After lunch and a grocery run, I was back on the couch with Mucinex, Vick's Vapor Rub, and Alabama football. PS: Don't waste your time watching The Mummy Resurrected (not a part of the Brendan Fraser saga), or Gods of Egypt. Egypt has failed me twice in a row. So today, Sunday, is my last day of vacation.
I still think I am going to succumb to my sickness. I went to church, went to eat, and made a Dollar General stop. I don't see myself doing anything but folding laundry for the rest of this day. My NASCAR boo Brad Keselowski blew an engine, so his (our) Cup dreams are shot for this season. I have been waiting 9 months I believe, to see who Negan kills on The Walking Dead. Guess I will have to wait 2 more hours to find out! Back to work tomorrow!
