Welcome to January.
All 97 days of it. 1. This keyboard. Now, when I was younger I would play all of the time. I would hear a song, and eventually figure it out. I still can't read music, but now, with my old-lady brain, I can play something one day, and then next not have a clue. I have to relearn it all over again. We hates it. 2. Now I have been born and raised in the South. I am used to seeing dead animals killed by hunters, Facebook photos of grown up and kids alike posting alongside dead animals. But....I saw today a picture of a man's tailgate with a dead deer on it. Like...a deer he killed. The entire tailgate. Since my phone doesn't zoom anymore, all you get is a blurred picture, but I assure you, my eyeballs saw it. 3. Some days, this is what gets you through. 4. I know it's in poor taste to follow up a Bible picture with alcohol, but it has been over 20 years since I have even seen a bottle of this stuff. I open the lid.....yep. Transported instantly back to early 2000. Sickest night ever. Don't do it ya'll. 5. You know you live in the country when you buy a new mattress, and you throw the old one on the burn pile in the backyard. Side note, I know it's time to go outside and clean the windows. 6. Happy note, my second driver cancelled, so I got to spend a couple of hours with Rebecca and Lily. Sad note, it was in the doctors office. She's okay. 7. 8. Now I am not encouraging violent behavior, but what woman wouldn't want to burn down her exes house? 9. I do believe that Scott made the whitest meal every with his little crackers and cheese. 10. Not a fan of tornado warnings in January. I handled it like an adult. Sleep meds and Star Wars. 11. I think we need one more picture of Lily from our car session. 12. A sure fire way for your football team to advance in the NFL is for me NOT to root for them. We watched football all day after church. Zero. Nada. Neinte. 13. Soooooo you're not supposed to eat the paper strips? 14. It flooded everywhere today. Several of the streets we tried to drive on were flooded. The driver wasn't nervous, and she drove great, so we just kept going. Until..... 15. Today is our 15th wedding anniversary. Once we figured out how many years we have been married, 'twas a lovely day. We didn't take any pictures, so instead, here is a lovely photo of us freezing to death in front of the Mississippi, and me with the worst chapped lips of my life. Don't mind Scott...he always looks like that when in a picture with me. 16. New book! I have no idea what it is even about, I saw Matthew Reilly and knew I would have to read it!! 17. It's no secret that I wait until my gas light comes on before I make a visit to the gas station, but today I pushed it. I made it though!!!! 18. Mood. 19. Y'all. I have been watching The Middle for years. I know it went off the air last year, but I just wasn't ready to let go. I finally finished the series. Someone was cutting onions in the house. 20. Again. Mood. 21. I am the type of person, if I am at home and I get cold, I grab a blanket. I put on socks. I do not however, turn up the heat. This morning when I woke up INSIDE our house was 47°. It gets so hot in the bedroom that at night we (I) turn the heat off. After an hour of standing on top of the heating vents, I stomped down the hall, into the spare room, and drug out the space heater. It was so toasty....for like 8 minutes. Then it cut off. Forever. RIP. 22. Sleety and freezing. Bonus day off, once I got to the office, the driver called in, so back home I headed. I finished this book, Murder in the Bayou. It is set here in Louisiana, a few Parishes South of here. 8 women killed, no arrests. It is still unsolved, and the police were implicated. True story. Recommend. I also finished Fried Green Tomatoes. I love this book!! It's a rarity that I like the movie better, but this book is still 5/5! 23. I cooked! Quick Shrimp and Veggies. Super easy, no need for a recipe. Buy 2 packs of these frozen veggies, 2 bags of frozen pre-cooked shrimp. Cook them separately, then add together in a skillet for about 5 minutes, add the seasonings you like. Done. 24. This is the seat you need in church when the Pastor says "turn to your neighbor"..... 25. X marks the spot. 26. Kobe Bryant and 8 other people passed away today in a helicopter crash. I don't believe that I ever watched him play in one game, but he was an inspiration to many, and I pray his, and all of the families involved find peace. 27. It has been so cold and wet this week. Like deep into your bones cold. The last time my body has ached this way was 2 (3?) years ago when we were in Memphis for a few days. In the sleet. Wandering around lost. 28. I feel like The New Day every evening when I dry my hands at French Market. 29. I only had one driver today at 3, so I got to spend time with Lily and Rebecca. A Connect Four game, a puppet show, and me trying to color a picture with her taking the crayons out of my hand. Fun times. 30. Everything is gigglier at 3:00am when you are still awake... 31. Hey look Ma, we made it!! Finally, the end of January. Let's not do this again.
