I could make this short and name this "Pictures of fountains, food we ate, and Scott in the same shirt everyday."
7 days ya'll. 7 days with Scott.
We left for Hot Springs 3pm-ish on Sunday. With minimal arguing, we made it to Arkansas.
I for sure want to go back to this place because of this lake:
I never got a good picture, but it was massive. One side was all dammed up, and they had a beach area, and it just looked like the place that I need to be.
We made it to the hotel, unpacked, and didn't want to venture out too far for food, it was late, and there was a Zaxby's right there!
Chicken Club for the win!
The next morning was a definite pig out for breakfast:
The plan was to drive around, look at stuff, visit some of the Historic Downtown area, we drove out a little too far, so Scott went to turn around randomly, and then I saw this:
Yo, I was in heaven.
We decided today would be the outdoor day. We went back to the hotel and changed, then came back here, drove to the Hot Springs National Park, and also went to the Mountain Tower.
The next day was our "explore" day.
I read once that the male testicles are at a constant 88°.
This was way hotter than balls.
This was taken from the car, but I knew I had to get up and close to it to see just how big it was.
It was enormous.
Of course I had to have my picture taken in front of it.
And yes, I know it's "Hot Springs", but I didn't expect it to be SO hot.
We went to the aquarium!
Just for Bailey.....
With a quick stop to The Jerky Store, we drove back into the business district, and had lunch at The Hungry Greek.
There was this man in there, I couldn't understand some of what he said, but I did manage to gather than he had called the restaurant, told them he was coming, and to have his food ready. NOT as a take out, but as a dine in. He just didn't want to wait to eat. He cited "very poor management" when he got there as a WALK IN, and had to wait for his food.
We went back for a couple of hours, just hung around, then went BACK out for more food :)
Dinner at Purple Cow.
Took the hottest bath in my life! Also this tub was so deep to be a regular tub, I did not want to get out.
The next morning we were up and at 'em early.
I tried elk and bison on this trip, which was a first, I saw absolutely stunning landscapes, and I got to pet a tortoise named Slowpoke.
All Hot Springs pictures are here <<<<
We went back home for one night, I stopped and gave the fam their souvenirs, and apparently Bailey "hates" purple now, LOL.
I got some Lily snuggles, then headed home to do laundry. I had zero clean underwear.
We got up early Thursday morning, loaded up the bags again.
I had to stop by my doctor for my 3-month check up, drew blood, then we were off again!
When we got into Alexandria, it was pouring. We we got close to Opelousas/Lafayette, it was a monsoon.
We got off of I-49 and took this hillbilly hee haw road all the way to Baton Rouge.
It flooded. And flooded. When we got to I-10, it was still flooding, plus add bumper to bumper traffic, and the Huey P Long narrow ass bridge.
Navigating in a strange place+flood+traffic+husband that has been by my side for many days, I was ready to get to this hotel. The weather was so bad, we really couldn't see our surroundings, but made it safely.
I had checked into my room via the app, but it wasn't ready yet. I said I didn't really care, so I ended up on the first floor, first room.
Sigh. LOL. But it was good!
We hadn't eaten since breakfast, it was 3:30pm, so Scott ventures out to find the Taco Bell we know we passed. After 45 minutes of being gone, I started to worry. An hour passes, and I like well damn hell where are my tacos? I mean husband?
He made it. I saw the next day how horrible traffic was in that particular area.
We didn't go out to eat dinner, we just stuffed faced with tacos, pizza, and maybe adult beverages.
Got up early the next morning and headed out to see the USS Kidd!
When I went into the museum/Veteran memorial section, literally 2 minutes in I am a slobbering mess. Then I see a Vietnam Vet standing in front of a section of a man he knew.
We bawled together.
I waited so long for this!
Off we went.
When we wobbled back to the car, we just sat in the a/c for a good minute.
I brought a slip on pair of Tom's that I have had since 2010. We drove to the Mall of Louisiana, which, OMG, is huge, and just from the parking lot to the entryway, my shoe fell off 3 times. They had had it. WHICH!!!! On just this trip, that makes 2 pair of shoes that have went to Heaven.
We stopped in The Shoe Dept, and I bought these:
They felt good, somewhat stylish, I was hot to trot.
I pigged out on a gyro.
There are 2 miles worth of stores here.
About 1 mile into it, the shoe betrayed me.
It may not look like much, but it felt like knives.
We went into 5 and Below, where i bought a bunch of stuff for Lily. They did not have Band Aids...
We went next door to Target where they DO sell Band Aids, and I was back in business.
It still hurt come dinner time, so I just wore sandals.
LOL, Rebecca said it looks like the picture was taken with a potato, but she sees that I used Snapchat.
In my life, I don't think that I have eaten this much in one week.
I did walk 3 miles today, so maybe that counts for something?
I would never buy unnecessary things....
When we were in Hot Springs on Day 1, we went into TJ Maxx. I immediately go straight to the handbags. And I saw it. THE purse. Every woman has one purse in her lifetime that speaks to her.
Well I have had mine, but this spoke to me as well.
I didn't want to spend that much right at the beginning so I said on the day we go to leave, I'll go back, and if it's there, I'll get it.
Scott reminded me about 45 minutes outside of Hot Springs. I HAD FORGOTTEN!
When I got back home I searched online for almost 2 hours. Nothing.
When we left the Mall, I found a TJ Maxx, I walk in....and there is was.
We got up early Saturday morning and headed home. Blissfully uneventful, no monsoons. We stopped in Alexandria for lunch, and made it home by 2.
Our faces, after many hours in the car.
All Baton Rouge/USS Kidd pictures here <<<<
Got home, unloaded all the junk, and plopped by butt on the couch.
When Lily got home, I took her her bag of goodies.
She particularly liked the poop key chain and the edible bubbles.
Back to real life tomorrow.
I enjoy sports, binge watching TV, food, reading, and slightly bearded men.
