So in my Lisa-brain, painting the living room would be a half a day project. No mess, in and out, hit it and quit it. Yeah..... No. This is day 2,134, and it is almost complete. I still have to get on my belly, with a sponge on a stick, and get off all of the white paint that I got on the gray walls. Note to future self. Get someone else to paint the molding. This is what it looked like before: And so it begins. My brother in law tackled "the big" wall, and removed the mirrors, and what I affectionately called "the foreskin": And then all of of the priming started. I knew it was going to take a lot because the walls have never been painted, and I am pretty sure this place is at least 40 years old. I knew one gallon of primer wouldn't be enough, so Bailey and I loaded up and went to the Walmart. Where....I bought gray primer. Didn't mean to. Totally worked out okay. She left around 1am, and I crawled in the bed around 2. The hardest part for me was taping the floor below the trim. Luckily I have a tiny sister who did most of it for me, AND painted inside of the paneling grooves. Every single groove had to be primed twice and then we we started painting, had to be painted twice. Paneling sucks. Remember me saying I went to sleep at 2am? At 5:20am, Scott came in the bedroom, scared the bejeezus outta me, saying "I have a flat!" Of all mornings, he has to be there for a 6:00am safety meeting. I threw on shoes and was out the door. No bra. No panties. Paint still everywhere on my body. So now I am up, and what a wonderful mood I am in ;) So Rebecca and Lily arrive. The plan was, to keep the 2-year old entertained with movies and snacks, and kind of box her in while we painted. Negative. She ended up with a brush. Why yes she is spinning around in a circle with it. And then it was break time. And then it was over. Just waiting for it to dry. And then the chairs arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew when Rebecca arrived the following day to hang/arrange the decor on the walls, that I was going to lose any input, so I snuck something real quick to maintain my dominance. And now we're done! I still have a butt ton of paint to get off of the floor, and I have a few areas that I need to touch up the paint, but otherwise, DONE. Fact: I am offering free hugs and room temperature tap water to whomever wants to come get all of the paint off of the floor.
